Towards the end of 2025, Ainir Cyclotronics received funding from Innovation Norway through an Innovation Contract. Since then, we have taken major steps in developing and industrialising our patented technology for sorting and recycling plastic packaging from hospitals.
Together with our industrial and technology partners, we have moved from concept development to detailed design and advanced engineering of our portable sorting facility, Cyclotron 365. In parallel, we have worked systematically on testing and validating the technology, while building deep insight into plastic waste streams within the hospital sector.
We have established strong partnerships across manufacturing and engineering, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, traceability, and downstream material recycling. These collaborations bring us steadily closer to a complete solution in which hospital plastic packaging can be sorted, traced, and recycled, instead of being sent for incineration.
Our collaboration with Innovation Norway has been characterised by professionalism throughout the entire process: from the application phase and expert panel assessment to the final decision and milestone‑based payments aligned with the project plan.
The Innovation Contract has been crucial in enabling us to take the technology from concept and early‑stage development towards an industrial and commercial solution. We particularly want to highlight the excellent cooperation with Innovation Norway’s Telemark office and the constructive support we have received throughout the project period.
Ainir is now entering a demanding, but above all highly exciting commercialisation phase. The technology is currently undergoing validation and industrialisation, while we prepare for our first commercial projects in Norway and Europe.
What began as an idea to preserve a valuable resource that is today largely incinerated is now becoming an industrial solution. Support from Innovation Norway has been an important part of this journey.
